Jesus is the Bread of Life Ministry

Rosco and Marie Rigsby are operating a “Bread Ministry” on Thursdays in Spencer. It opens at 9:30 and continues until all the bread has been distributed. Operating only on donations received, this ministry is in Sue’s Thrift Store on College Street in Spencer. Everyone is welcome to come by and pick up what they can use. The items vary from week to week. For more information, call 615-215-8066.

Monthly Meeting of Mountain Lodge No 766

Mountain Lodge No. 766 F & M, Spencer will meet the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. (behind the Burritt Memorial Library Building). All Master Masons are invited.

Assistant D.A. Schedules Meetings in VBC

Assistant D.A. Randall Gilliam will be at the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department every second and fourth Thursday after General Sessions Court (after the lunch hour) until 4 p.m. He will be available to answer or assist with any criminal issues or procedures.

American Legion Post 207 Meeting in Spencer

The American Legion Post 207 meets every 3 rd Thursday of the month at 6 p. in the Spencer Civic Center. All veterans are invited. For more information, please call 686-7759.

Burritt College Alumni Building Opening to Public

The Burritt College Alumni Building will be open the second and fourth Fridays of every month, beginning October 9, 2009, October 23, November 13, etc… from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day. Everyone is welcome to stop by and visit. Also volunteer work is needed.

Cedar Grove Monthly Supper

Cedar Grove will have their monthly supper Saturday, October, 17, 2009 at 5:00 pm. Meal will be pork roast, chicken and dumplings, vegetables, dessert and a drink. Rook tournament will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Arliss and Dollie Dodson Reunion

Family of the late Arliss and Dollie Dodson will have a family reunion on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Fall Creek Falls Community Center, with meal to begin at 2:00 pm. bring a covered dish and enjoy the evening.

Gospel Singing at New Life Worship Center

There will be a gospel singing at the New Life Worship Center (on Hwy. 285 off Hwy. 30) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24. Singers include the Old Fashion Gospel Singers. Pastor Danny Murphy and congregation welcome everyone to attend!

Country Ham Breakfast

There will be a Country Ham Breakfast held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Spencer Civic Center. Breakfast will be Country ham, bacon, or sausage, gravy, biscuits, eggs and drink, and will begin at 6:00 and end at 10:00 with the cost being $5.00 per plate; proceeds will go toward purchasing van for the Senior Companion Program.

Sparkman Reunion

The Sparkman Reunion will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 in the Cummingsville Community Center, on Cane Creek Cumminsville Road, Spencer, TN. Business meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at 12 noon. Bring food and drinks and enjoy the feasting and fellowship.
Brockdale Church of God Turkey Dinner

The Brockdale Church of God will be having a Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings, Friday, Octover 23, from 3 p.m. until ? Adults $6, children under 10, $4. Call-in and carry-out available. Pastor David Rogers and congregation invite you to come and eat! For more information, call 423-554-3713.

The Haunted Cabin

The Theater Arts Class will present “The Haunted Cabin” on Thursday October 22, 2009 in the High school auditorium at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $3.00 in advance and $5.00 at the door . Your support is greatly appreciated.

Beautiful Christmas Craft Fair

The Christmas Craft Fair will be held November 7 th, 8:00 am. until 4:00 pm. in the Spencer Civic Center, the event will have crafts, food, baked goods and gifts. Come out and enjoy the day. For more information call 931-686-2512.
