Jesus is the Bread of Life Ministry
Rosco and Marie Rigsby are operating a “Bread Ministry” on Thursdays in Spencer. It opens at 9:30 and continues until all the bread has been distributed. Operating only on donations received, this ministry is in Sue’s Thrift Store on College Street in Spencer. Everyone is welcome to come by and pick up what they can use. Let’s Get Fit Van Buren County
The residents of Van Burn County are challenged to participate in the WE CAN GET FIT Program. During this free monthly meeting, healthy eating and lifestyle habits will be addressed. Each hour long session, which began on October 14, runs through April 14, 2009, and will include nutritional info and low impact exercises. Meetings will be the second Tuesdays, monthly in the Civic Center, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Free snacks and monthly prizes will be given. Veteran’s Dinner Planned
The Greater Van Buren/Spencer Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual Veteran's Dinner on November 8th, 2008. If you are a local veteran or family of a veteran, and have pictures that you would like to see added to the slide presentation at the dinner, please contact Ann McCormick, Chamber President at 931-256-0112. We must have the pictures, as soon as possible to get them added. A letter will be sent to our current list of Veteran's within the next two weeks with details of the dinner. Copeland Chapel Church Revival

Cagle Community Church will host an Old Fashion Day on Sunday, November 2, beginning at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon and singing held in the afternoon. Pastor Darrell Nance and congregation invite everyone to attend.
Beautiful Christmas Craft Fair
The Annual Beautiful Christmas Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 1, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Spence Civic Center in Spencer. This is a one day event this year, so mark your calendars and don’t miss it. Get a start on your holiday gift list with booths filled with crafts, foods, baked goods and gifts. VBC Relay for Life Kick Off Dinner and Auction
Now excepting auction items for the VBC Relay for Life Kick Off, Saturday, November 15, at the Burritt College Building. Meals served 4-6 p.m. Live auction begins at 6 p.m. Don’t miss the special guest speaker. To donate items contact Kelley Snyder at 273-3886 or Nathan Harris at 273-1272. All donations will be appreciated. Skate into Girl Scouts and Help Local Food Bank
Current Girl Scouts and girls in grades K-12th who want to join Girl Scouts are invited to a Skating Party on Friday, November 7, from 4:30-6:30pm at Roller Country, 6028 State Route 28, Dunlap, TN.
All girls must bring a canned food donation for the Sequatchie County Food Bank in order to skate for $1. The fee includes skate rental, two hours of skating time, pizza and one soft drink. Girls who are not already Girl Scouts must pay the $10 annual registration fee (financial assistance is available).
Representatives from the Girl Scouts of Moccasin Bend Council will be there to answer parent questions. All girls in grades K-12 are invited to join. Adults interested in volunteering are also invited to join.

Cedar Grove Community Center Serving Lunch Election Day
Cedar Grove Community Center will be serving lunch on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Meal will include chicken and dumplings, ham, vegetable, corn break, roll, dessert and drink.
Lions 5K Run Set

Battle of the Bands Scheduled by Relay for Life Team
There will be a Battle of the Bands, held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at 5 p.m. (gates open at 3 p.m.) on the Van Buren County Fair Grounds. Admission, $2 adults, kids 6 and under, free. Commodities Distribution for Van Buren County
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution for Van Buren County on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Old Spencer Elementary School Gymnasium. Everyone must present a valid UCHRA commodity card in order to receive commodities. Persons may receive commodities for a total of three (3) households if valid cards are presented at the distribution. The U.S.D.A.'s Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program is available to all recipients regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex or handicap.

Benefit Super for Cedar Grove Fire Department
There will be a benefit supper and auction for the Cedar Grove Fire Department at the Cedar Grove Community Center on Saturday, November 15, beginning at 4 p.m. with a turkey and dressing and ham dinner with all the trimmings. An auction will follow at 6 p.m. The prettiest girl and ugliest man contests will be held as well. Adults, $6, children $2.50. Everyone is invited to come enjoy the food and fun and support the Cedar Grove Fire Department.
