Monthly Meeting of Mountain Lodge No 766

Mountain Lodge No. 766 F & M, Spencer will meet the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. (behind the Burritt Memorial Library Building). All Master Masons are invited.

Assistant D.A. Schedules Meetings in VBC

Assistant D.A. Randall Gilliam will be at the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department every second and fourth Thursday after General Sessions Court (after the lunch hour) until 4 p.m. He will be available to answer or assist with any criminal issues or procedures.

American Legion Post 207 Meeting in Spencer

The American Legion Post 207 meets every 3 rd Thursday of the month at 6 p. in the Spencer Civic Center. All veterans are invited. For more information, please call 686-7759.

Red Cross Blood Drive

There will be a Blood Drive for the Spencer Community in the Civic Center on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 12 noon- 6 p.m. Ready. Set. Give. Join today and e a donor.

Cell Phone for Lions

The Van Buren County Lions Club is collecting cell phones (no more than 4 years old, please) to be sold in order to fund the purchase of eye glasses. If you have any cell phones to donate, please drop them off at the Burritt Memorial Library in Spencer, Bonnie’s Flower Shop or The Mountain View Newspaper Office. Your assistance and support will be greatly appreciated and enable the Lions to better serve those in need.

Shockley Cemetery Decoration

Shockley Cemetery Decoration will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010. There will be a covered dish dinner at 11:30 a.m. All donations are appreciated.

Gospel Singing at God’s Prayer House

There will be special Gospel Singing at God’s Prayer House, featuring the Five Stars Gospel Singers. God’s Prayer House is located at 1012 Hill Road, Spencer. This event will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 2 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Brockdell Church of God Hosting Roast Beef Dinner

The Brockdell Church of God will be serving a roast beef dinner on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 3 p.m. - ? Adults $6, children under 10 $4. Pastor David Rogers and congregation invites everyone to come eat. For more information call 423-554-3713 or 554-4049.
