| Sheriff’s Department Busts Thief and Burglary Ring

On Monday, March 8th 2010, due to a pending investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department, three adults and two juveniles were arrested in connection with a rash of burglaries, thefts, and vandalisms, which had been occurring over the past few months here in Van Buren County. This all followed a continuing and lengthy investigation by local authorities.

| Two Students Found in Possession of Drugs in Local High School

On Monday, March 8, 2010, a random search at Van Buren County High School, using drug dogs, revealed two seniors in possession of drugs on the school campus. These random drug searches occur at least once a year and often times two or three times per year.

| Two Vehicle Wreck Sends Howard to Hospital

medical attention
following the Staurday
night wreck in Spencer. |
At approximately 8:15 p.m. a two vehicle accident was reported on the intersection of I.B. Maynard and Poplar Streets in Spencer. It was reported Deltrice Howard, of Spencer was driving a Buick east bound on I.B. Maynard and was attempting to make a left turn onto Poplar Street. Mark Madewell, was driving a Corsica west bound on I.B. Maynard when the crash occurred.

| State Champs Plan Trip to Archery National Tournament

Members of the Van Buren County schools archery teams, coaches, staff, and parents met Tuesday evening in the Van Buren County High School auditorium. The group discussed the impending trip to the National Tournament which will be held May 6, 7, and 8, in Louisville, KY. The tournaments will be held in the Expo Center in Louisville, with an expected attendance of over 6,000 shooter nationwide. The Expo Center will be the site of the largest archery tournament ever held in the world. [more] |
